Winemaker's Comments
"Outstanding oak and fruit
integration is once again shown in this wine. A
full, rich, creamy mouth feel of almonds and vanilla
with a lingering aftertaste of smoky peach and citrus."

| Viticulture: |
Vine age: 20 years. Density:
4,000 vines per hectare. Yield: 5-6 tons
per hectare. A low canopy allowed optimal
sunlight penetration. Minimal irrigation
was used. The fruit ripened slowly allowing
the development of small bunches with highly
concentrated flavours. |
| Vinification: |
Grapes were picked at 24.9ºB
and whole-bunch pressed to 1.2 bars of pressure.
The juice was left to settle for two days
and racked to barrel. Using only wild yeast,
fermentation occurred over a two month period.
The wine spent 12 months on the lees. New,
small French oak barrels were used. |

Vine age: 9 years. The vineyards

winning a gold medal in the Vinpro Block
Evaluation competition . |
| Vinification: |
Grapes were whole-bunch selected
and hand harvested into 20 kg boxes at 24.2ºB.
Further bunch selection took place before
crushing and de-stemming. Fermentation occurred
in 500 kg open-top fermenters using only
wild yeast, with punch-downs by hand six
times per day for maximum extraction.
Fermented grapes were manually loaded to
avoid unnecessary pumping. Grapes were moderately
pressed and moved to new French oak barrels
for 18 months. No filtration took place,
and the wine was bottled by hand. |
| Maturation: |
15 months in 225-litre brand
new French barrels. Three different coopers
were used. |

Winemaker's Comments
"A richly textured, well balanced
wine layered in classic notes of capsicum and passion
fruit, with a fresh, zesty finish. Serve as a refreshing
aperitif or pair with fresh salads, seafood and
pasta. Drink now or within the next 4 years ." |
|
|
| Viticulture: |
Vine age: 21 years
- Density: 4,000 vines per hectare - Yield:
4.9 tons per hectare - Probably the most
balanced block on the farm in terms of vine
growth and yield. A high canopy protected
the grapes from sunburn. Intensive and calculated
irrigation was used to combat the heat. |
| Vinification: |
Grapes were picked
in three stages; the first for natural acid;
the second, four days later, for fruit concentration;
and the third a further four days later,
for mouth feel. All pickings were done early
in the morning and the grapes were vinified
using highly reductive processes.
The juice remained in contact with the skin
for six hours before pressing, and was settled
for 24 hours before racking. Fermentation
occurred over a 13 day period using three
different yeast types before the wine was
filtered and bottled. |

New Release
Winemaker's Comments
"The 2008 vintage of our Semillon
Vigneron's Selection has developed into a well-integrated
wine with exciting nutty and honey flavours and
is a limited release. This wine will develop even
further over time and will complement any seafood
and Mediterranean style dishes. " |
|
|
| Soil type: |
Well-drained and
lightly-structured Clovelly and Avelon
soils. |
| Weather: |
A good Semillon vintage
with cool moderate conditions throughout
the growing season followed by very high
temperatures during the ripening period. |
| Viticulture: |
Vine age - 12 years;
vine density - 2800 vines per hectare;
yield – 6/9 tons per hectare. 100% Dry-land
management. Vines are planted 1.40 meters
apart to avoid density as Semillon can
be vigorous in growth. Intensive leaf
and shoot management in October allows
for even ripeness and enables shade for
fruit concentration development. This
is one of GlenWood’s award winning vineyards. |
| Vinification: |
Grapes were given
8 hours of skin-contact before pressing
to 1.4 bars of pressure. The juice was
left to settle for 2 days before racking
to barrel. Using only wild yeast, fermentation
occurred over a 3 month period. The wine
spent 12 months on the lees. Only new,
small French oak barrels were used. The
wine was bottled-matured for an additional
12 months before release. |
| Maturation: |
12 months in new
French oak barrels. Selection of 2 different
coopers. After barrel maturation the wine
