Prior to pressing the berries went through another selection process to ensure that only 100% noble rot berries were pressed. Juice was settled and racked to small 225 Litre selected French oak barrels. Juice was barrel fermented and the fermentation naturally stopped at 130 grams residual sugar per litre. The wine has spent 15 months in barrel before stabilisation and bottling. This wine has developed into a well-integrated sweet wine with enticing nutty and honey flavours. This wine has delicate similarities to the revered French Sauternes which was one of our main objectives. Enjoy now or age for 10 to 15 years to develop further complexity. Serve chilled. Duck liver parfait, dark chocolate fondant and well-aged blue cheese. Only 1900 bottles produced. - [Glenwood Grand Duc Syrah 2024](https://www.glenwoodvineyards.co.za/product/glenwood-grand-duc-syrah-2024/) - Only the best grapes were picked at 23.0°B and 50% whole bunch fermented in small open-top fermenters. Punched down by hand 3 times daily until fermented dry. Grapes were gravity fed to press. After pressing, the wine underwent natural malolactic fermentation in barrel. Wine was matured for 20 months in a selection of 100% new premium French (50%) and American (50%) oak barrels. Deep ruby in colour with a vibrant purple edge. The nose is expressive and layered, opening with ripe red and black berries, violets and crushed black pepper, followed by subtle notes of clove, vanilla pod and sweet spice. On the palate, the wine is poised and textural, with bright red fruit purity complemented by savoury undertones, and gentle smoky nuances. The finish is long, elegant and complex, with lingering spice and mineral depth. Drink through 2030. Straw yellow. Ripe melon, waxiness coated by spicy oak. Explosive oak and vanilla creaminess on palate entry. A zesty acidity adds freshness, but the brightness thereof demands integration-time. Further cellaring. Only 400 bottles produced. - [Glenwood Vigneron’s Selection Shiraz 2024](https://www.glenwoodvineyards.co.za/product/glenwood-vignerons-selection-shiraz-2024/) - The best quality grapes were selected, gently crushed and fermented in half-ton open-top fermenters. The grapes were punched down by hand 3 times a day and fermented until dry. The wine underwent malolactic fermentation in barrel and was matured for 12 months in 2nd fill French oak to produce a well-integrated, complex profile. Deep ruby in colour. Dark berry and chocolate on the rich nose. Juicy and jammy on the grippy and full palate with cassis, compote and blackberry on the aftertaste. A layered and complex wine. Drink through 2035. - [Glenwood Grand Duc Chardonnay 2024](https://www.glenwoodvineyards.co.za/product/glenwood-grand-duc-chardonnay-2024/) - Grapes were picked at 24.7°B and whole-bunch pressed to 1.4 bars of pressure. The juice was left to settle for two days and racked to barrel. Using only wild yeast, fermentation occurred over an 14-day period. The wine spent 20 months on the lees in 100% new 500L French oak barrels. Yellow straw in colour. Rich vanilla and ripe pineapple. Full and creamy on the palate with a vanilla toasty note from gentle use of oak. Marmelade and citrus notes on the aftertaste. Drink through 2030. Only 3700 bottles produced. - [Glenwood Vigneron’s Selection Chardonnay 2025](https://www.glenwoodvineyards.co.za/product/glenwood-vignerons-selection-chardonnay-2025/) - Grapes were picked at 21.5°B and whole-bunch pressed to 1.4 bars of pressure. The juice was left to settle for two days and racked to barrel. Using 100% wild yeast, fermentation occurred over an 18-day period. The wine spent 8 months on the lees in 30% new French oak and 70% second and third fill barrels. Light yellow and green tint. Zesty citrus, spicy oak undertone, with some brioche influence. Ripe yellow apple and quinch nuances coated by oak creaminess, carries all elements for further integration. Fruit forward palate with citrus and stone fruit. Tangy and zesty on the lively aftertaste. Classic varietal wine. Drink through 2030.
